Their content dives into the messy realities of coming of age-- love, hardship, substance abuse, mental health, and the ever-changing dynamic of family and friendship-- turning real experiences into electric, emotionally charged songs. The Jo Shmos are Katie, Andy, Delia, Frank, and Spencer. They like to make music that feels honest and alive. "I wrote most of these songs in my childhood bedroom in the wee hours of the night when it was just me and the silence," says Katie. "I've written these songs over the past 5 years and you can feel the aging throughout the album. I wrote about the things that were troubling or on my mind the most as a 18-23 year old. You could basically call this album my diary, it's open and honest. Making this album turned all of these painful or elevated feelings into art that I am extremely proud of."
